Young Affiliated Professionals

Professional pet lovers!

Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region welcomes young professionals (aged 21-40) to join our Young Affiliated Professionals (YAP) group!  

Through YAP meetings and events, you will develop leadership and professional skills through networking, volunteering, fundraising event support, and social opportunities centered around HSPPR’s vision of a compassionate community where people and animals are cared for and valued. 

YAP Members will support HSPPR by:
  • Obtaining sponsorships and auction items for HSPPR signature events
  • Volunteering with HSPPR signature events and exclusive opportunities
  • Serving as “Ambassadors of Fun” at Happy Tail Happy Hours events and socials
  • Participating in and generating new DIY Party Fundraisers to benefit HSPPR (e.g., Pizza Night, Car Wash, Vegan Cooking Class, Ballpark Night, Yoga, etc.)
  • Authentically connecting with the organization’s gratitude efforts (e.g., thank-a-thon calls, handwritten thank you notes, thank you deliveries, etc.)
  • Contributing new fundraising ideas for YAP to plan and carry out
  • Maintaining professional decorum during meetings and events
YAP Members will have the opportunity to:
  • Authentically engage with other young professionals in social, volunteer, and professional capacities
  • Attend a speaker series of topics to grow professionally and obtain knowledge on animal welfare advocacy and trends
  • Serve as a Junior Board Member and attend and observe the HSPPR Board during a monthly meeting or committee meeting
  • Receive a twenty percent discount on adoptions and select tickets at HSPPR signature events
  • Have a positive and impactful experience to include on your resume
  • Request a recommendation letter or referral from senior leadership at HSPPR
  • Receive appreciation of your time and commitment  
  • Have opportunities to meet the animals you are working to help!

Make it official!

YAP members are urged to contribute a minimum of $120 annually ($10 per month) as a charitable donation to uphold the mission of HSPPR. Make your donation here. Every gift made is eligible for tax deduction.

Ready, set, go!

Members will have the opportunity to engage with different HSPPR programs (e.g., Animal Care, Community Cats, Foster, Behavior Support, Veterinary Services, Youth Programs, & more!) throughout the year and determine proceed disbursement at the annual Philanthro—Pawty!
